Magnificent, Marvellous, Mighty Monday and Gold Sneakers

When I grow old, I want to have a face like any of the three women above. A face lit with the flames of creativity. Breathe their essence in.
That is beauty. Truth and spirit. And a slash of red lipstick doesn't hurt!
I used to see an old woman in the city streets. She wore her white hair in a top knot. Her face was filled with sweet smile lines. She was always dressed beautifully and on her feet she wore bright gold sneakers. She was cute and she knew it.
My Botox will be writing, art and fairytales. I want to grow old with a smile on my face and gold sneakers on my feet.

... only, when you join their ranks, you'll be the one in gold ballet slippers!

  3. Aw, this is a lovely sentiment...when I get old I'm might consider dying my hair purple or pink! Red lipstick defo, lots of perfume, a cat or two, lots of homecooked food, I'll spend my money on flowers more and slip little pressies into my granddaughters and grandson's coat pockets and under their pillows! Oh and knit hideous jumpers just for the fun of it -even for the cats! :) xxx

  6. A friend of mine who is an artist was lucky enough to meet Beatrice Wood at her home in Ojai. She was a real beauty and had an incredible style. That said, I am still doing my best to avoid wrinkles. Botox for me.;-)

  7. You look beautiful now and you'll look beautiful as an old lady too. Don't you worry about that.

The above three ladies have indeed radiant faces.

someone obviously had it, changed their mind and just left it there, so i saw it and snaffled it!

  12. Hi Josephine,
I enjoyed this post very much... I feel the same as you about growing old. It is important to keep a smile and a sparkle.
My grandmother had a sparkle in her eyes and a smile that lit up a room. She was always smart and well dressed, even when she was very ill.
I feel it is a shame that when we get older we can become forgotten, just because we eventually loose our young looks. I admire strong older women, who maintain their dignity.
Really good to see you again and thanks for leaving a kind comment about my paintings.
    Jo.x:)

  14. Hello Josephine, What a great post! I do love your blog, and thank you for visiting mine too. I agree with everything everyone said...I'm nearly there already.I used to dye my hair and have just allowed it to go it's natural way... and lucky me it's white to platinum. I get far more comments now than I did before!! Red lipstick's a must. I hadn't come across Beatrice Wood before, she looks so beautiful.
